Karachi May 19, 2008 - Supernet, Pakistan’s leading data connectivity solution provider was the co-sponsor of this year’s World Telecommunication Day event, which was organized by the Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) at the Hotel Sheraton, Karachi on May 17, 2008. The event was also co-sponsored by Telecard Limited, a parent company of Supernet.
This year’s event was celebrated under the theme of “Connecting Persons with Disabilities: Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for all”. The country witnessed phenomenal growth in the telecom sector over the last few years but people with disabilities have not been provided adequate ICT facilities. Government of Pakistan through Ministry of Information technology intends to carryout various activities to renew its commitment in providing ICT opportunities for people with disabilities. Being the leading telecom company of the country, we feel pride to support our Government in their nationalistic initiative to make Information and Communications Technology (ICT) easy and simple for the disable members of our society.
Supernet participation in the event was also a part of its commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). The company had earlier participated in various such events like Beach cleaning activity organized on the Earth Day 2008, Tree plantation drive across the country and other environmental protection activities.
